I wouldn't recommend Thistle Marble Arch Hotel after a June 2009 visit - in circumstances with a very experienced world traveller who had just returned from New York (an excellent hotel near Penn Station and warm, efficient staff - and justifiably well tipped for the week) the offer might have been to:
ReplyDeleteprovide without questioning and then apologise for the lack of jug and control knob breakdown (Concierge, first night);
apologise and reassure me that health standards did apply in the breakfast room - inspection?
reassure me on security issues in the hotel after the 'intruder' (still not identified by the hotel) entered his room - ostensibly wearing a uniform but climbing on chair to exit via Room 148 window to the inner courtyard, and the re-enter the same way (when I discovered him);etc
and after attending to all other issues raised including the 'bomb-like' device put me back to one minute prior to when he entered the hotel on Monday evening - full of expectation, with bookings made for theatre etc - the culmination of his trip - three days in Paris with his daughter, a month of wild camping near Dartmoor and brilliant US Open golf in New York.
That does not equate to the 'offer of an upgrade at a future visit' to a hotel chain that does not address the issues raised.
